Global Consultant, an US based leading consultancy on corporate planning and structuring and our Firm's attorneys were working closely on the taxation and pricing on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) in India and various legislations that were affecting the Aviation Industry. The assignment included liaison with the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Civil Aviation, preparing a detailed report on Customs Duty, Excise Duty, Sales Tax, and other related taxes affecting the pricing of ATF and the Foreign Airlines in their operations from India. One of the major achievements was that the Government of India soon brought in legislation on exempting foreign airlines from payment of excise and other duties on ATF.
